COVID-19 Updates

Even dentists have dental emergencies!

Hello to our Treasured Patients!

We miss your Smile! We hope you and your family are doing well and staying healthy. Thank you for everyone’s patience and support the past few months. Many things may have changed in our daily lives, but our commitment to you and especially to your safety and health has not wavered.

Upon your return, you will notice a few changes and updates:

Advanced Medical Grade Air Purification System has been installed. You will find 14 units throughout our clinic that will turn over the air 8 times every 15 minutes. This purifier is one of the most powerful on the market with dual air intakes and medical grade H13 filters (higher than True HEPA) with up to 99.7% particle removal down to .1 micron in size. Covid-19 is .125 microns in size. Not only can the air purifier help to remove virus carriers, it will remove pollen, dust, mold, bacteria, dust mite, odors, lead dust, and a multitude of other items. This will be helpful to combat aerosols as well as decrease allergens and increase overall health in our office.

Increased Personal Protection Equipment: We will continue to smile at you through the protective layers of our masks and face shield. Please bring a light jacket since we will be keeping the temperatures cool to keep everyone comfortable through the warmer months ahead.

Scheduling: is being improved and staggered to help reduce patient traffic and to aid in social distancing.

Strict Staff Screening: All team members will be screened each morning for potential COVID-19 symptoms and temperatures will be taken daily.

Increased Cleaning Routine: While we already have strict cleaning and sterilization processes in place, we will be increasing the disinfection process in our clinical and non-clinical areas throughout the day.

State of the Art Technology: Mukilteo Dental Center continues to be a industry leader in advanced technology and infection control. Our investment in the Sirona Treatment Centers from Germany allow our lines to be disinfected after every single patient visit. Countless hours were poured into the carefully engineered design of our clinic to provide superior sanitation and infection control. Compared to traditional patient operatories, we have decreased possible surface contamination areas by 50% through Kappler design in each of our patient suites. Our one-of-a-kind Sterilization Center has been visited and praised by dental professionals throughout the country due to our investment in the highest level of advanced technology and infection control. We pride ourselves in going above and beyond in our commitment to the safety and protection of our patients and our team.

New Policies for Patients:

Screening: We will be screening all patients prior to your appointment.

You will be asked the following questions:

Within the last 14 days have you experienced:

  • Fever above 100 F
  • Reoccuring cough/sore throat
  • Shortness of Breath/Difficulty breathing
  • Flu-like Symptoms
  • Abrupt loss of smell and/or taste
  • Close contact with a suspected or lab confirmed COVID-19 patient
  • Travel outside of the country

We will not be treating patients who have any COVID-19 symptoms or who may have potential risk factors. We will ask you to reschedule. If you are symptomatic and are experiencing a dental emergency, please contact our office at 425-347-4141 so we can find an alternative way to assist you.

Masks: Please arrive at your appointment with a mask/face covering on. A scarf, bandana, or homemade mask will be suitable. We will provide you with a disposable mask if you do not have one or forget.

Hand Sanitizing: Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the office. We will ask you to use our hand sanitizer upon arrival.

Temperature Check: Your temperature will be taken with a touchless infrared thermometer upon arrival. If your temperature is above 100 degrees F, you will be rescheduled.

Social Distancing:  We ask that you do not bring guests with you to your appointment with exceptions of adults accompanying children and those that need additional assistance. This recommendation is to reduce the number of people in the office and to limit exposure. There is a comfortable lounge on the first floor of the building for those providing transportation or waiting for a patient. Anyone entering the clinic will need to have their temperature taken regardless if they have an appointment or not.

Arriving at the 3rd Floor:

Please take turns using the elevator to provide for proper social distancing. Consider using the outside stairwell on the side of the building to reach the 3rd floor. After you have arrived on the 3rd floor, please wait at the front door. Please do not enter until we “waive” you in so that we can coordinate temperature checks one at a time.

Oral Rinse: We will be providing all adult patients with Colgate Optic White 2% hydrogen peroxide oral rinse prior to treatment. This extra 60 seconds of rinsing is a precautionary measure that has shown to substantially reduce oral bacteria and pathogens.

Our Commitment:

Our commitment to our treasured patients as well as the community has not wavered. Your support and faith in our Dental Phamily allows us to continue meaningful outreach locally and internationally. Our sister clinic in Tanzania, Barikiwa, is still providing emergent dental care and delivering babies. We were able to deliver some supplies in February as well as forward and implement on-going CDC recommendations to combat COVID-19. We are beyond thankful for the additional $2,000 that was so generously donated in March amongst patients, community friends, and team members to purchase medication, protective equipment, and medical supplies for the medical clinic and maternity center at . During a time of hardship, so many people opened their hearts to help give others a fighting chance.

A huge thank you to everyone locally that did their part at socially distancing, making necessary sacrifices and flattening the curve to keep our community safe. Our heartfelt appreciation to all those working at the front lines in health care, government, and service industries for your dedication and hard work.

We will miss all the hugging and the handshakes but we know this is temporary to ensure everyone’s safety. Know that we will be smiling at you from behind our masks and excited to warmly welcome you back.

Please contact us at (425) 347-4141 or email us at mdc@mukilteodental.com if we can be of further assistance.
